Oktoberfest comes to the downtown riverfront October 9–11

The festival runs Friday, Oct. 9, 4–11 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. The city bills it as a weekend of dancing, singing and beer along the Hillsborough River. The park is at 600 N. Ashley Drive. The city lists admission at $10–$220, with no preregistration required. The inaugural keg is tapped Friday as the doors open.
Register to vote by Monday
Hillsborough and Pinellas hold early voting Oct. 19–Nov. 1, Creative Loafing Tampa reports. During that period, voters can use any early voting precinct in their county. On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, they must use their assigned precinct. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.
Amendment 3 supporters raise $18 million to opponents’ $537,357
The opposing committees, Floridians for Shared Prosperity and Vote No on 3 Florida, raised the combined opposition total. That leaves supporters ahead by more than 33 to 1. Creative Loafing Tampa cites a compilation by OpenSecrets, the independent group that tracks political money. The property tax-cutting proposal is on the statewide November ballot.
